For Safety's Sake...
Don't use ordinary screws!

The correct mounting method illustrated below shows a wheel fully supported on the pilot of the wheelscrew.  The remaining part of the pilot engages inside the quill.  As a "rule-of-thumb", the wheel should be fully piloted and the quill engagement should be at least equal to the diameter of the wheelscrew.

Check the Operator Benefits that
Correct Wheel Mounting Provides!

  • Assures MAXIMUM SUPPORT of the wheel load, reducing the risk of movement that could result in poor finish, loss of dimension and the need for redressing the wheel.
  • SAFER BY DESIGN because the pilot eliminates the possibility of wheelscrew breakage, and since the wheel is fully supported, the chances of the wheel cracking or chipping are greatly reduced.
  • CONCENTRICITY IS MAINTAINED when the proper wheelscrew pilot length engages inside the quill.
