The correct mounting method illustrated below shows a wheel fully
supported on the pilot of the wheelscrew. The remaining part of the
pilot engages inside the quill. As a "rule-of-thumb", the
wheel should be fully piloted and the quill engagement should be at least
equal to the diameter of the wheelscrew.

Correct Wheel Mounting Provides!
- Assures MAXIMUM
SUPPORT of the wheel load,
reducing the risk of movement that could result in poor finish, loss of
dimension and the need for redressing the wheel.
- SAFER BY DESIGN because
the pilot eliminates the possibility of wheelscrew breakage, and since
the wheel is fully supported, the chances of the wheel cracking or
chipping are greatly reduced.
- CONCENTRICITY IS MAINTAINED
when the proper wheelscrew pilot length engages inside the quill.
